HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVEN!

I would loike to wish a very happy birthday to the most wonderful man I know! Steve turns 32 today and while he is fine with getting old he couldnt even remember how old he was turning until last night. I kind of like that fact about him, he still plays basketball on Saturdays, works out with the guys on Monday evenings, plays video games with Chuck a couple times a month, when we have family get togethers he is the first one to challenge my nephew or young cousins to a game of horse or tag football. Age doesnt mean anything to him, he is happy and content in his self and I love that about him! Ok, I will quit being sappy now!

This weekend the skies here in Springfield decided to open up and let the rain fall, we had not had rain since the begining of April. Since Steve had been sick all week and there was no way to work outside we decided to go watch a movie on Saturday. We watched The Book Of Eli with Denzel Washington, it was a good movie not the best movie ever, but still a good watch. Afterwards we decided to get lost in the boook store for a couple of hours. Steve was looking for a new book by Sam Sheridan called A Fighters Mind while I decided to purchase The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. We are both enjoying our new books, I couldnt put mine down! Sunday we went to my parents house for Sunday dinner after church. My mom made home made hot roast beef sandwiches, they were phenominal! The weather here has turned cool after the rain this weekend. I am hoping to take the kids outside to play tomorrow. They have been cooped up inside for a week now and need to burn some energy! Steve mowed the yard last night, good thing because it needed it! With him being sick last week and the rain this weekend it had not been done in a few weeks.

Now with the grass cut we have the best looking yard in the neighborhood! My pasies I planted are in full bloom and my Peonies in the back yard are full of buds just waiting to open up. I am going to try and take pictures of the flowers and add them on here later! Hope everyone has a great week and I will blog after the bonfire this weekend!

Thank goodness the weekend is here!

Well what would the week have been without another trip to the Emergancy room for us? Wednesday evening I took Steve to Urgent care to get him checked out. Thankfuly strep and swine flu tests came back negative so they gave him some meds to help with the fever and vomiting. Poor guys has been off of work since Monday night, what a way to spend a vacation. But anytime he takes three days off of work you know that he is one sick puppy! Thank you to all of you who called, texted or emailed to see how he was doing!

We finally got some rain here yesterday for the first time since April 2nd! I was so happy to see the rain washing the pollen off of everything, my eyes and nose were thankful as well. We dont have any exciting plans for this weekend, just letting Steve rest and get 100% before work next week. Next weekend we are having our annual bonfire party at my parents house. I am hoping the weather is nice and warm and we can all camp out. We will see about that though.

Have a fun and safe weekend!

When it rains it pours

Another weekend has come and gone and I am sad to say we got nothing accomplished! The middle of last week Steve and I started feeling a little rough, with the high pollen count I attributed it to allergies. Both of our throats, noses and eyes were killing us so I decided to close the windows and turn on the AC for the first time, I hated doing it but my eyes sure loved me for it. By the end of the week we were not feeling much better, and on Friday morning I woke up with no voice and a phone call from my mom saying my sister was being taken to the ER. My sister has been having horrible migranses and needed to be seen. They gave her some pain meds and fluids and she is seeing her Dr today to see what is going on. I had Desola for Thursday morning through Saturday morning and wouldnt you know she comes down with a 102.1 fever. I now know why parents worry so much when their children are sick, I think I woke up 50 times in the night and checked her fever and made her drink some fluids. Her mom picked her up first thing saturday morning and almost immediatly afterwards my cousin called saying her brother was being taken to the hospital and she was out of town and could I go sit with him. Well almost 8 hours later I returned home. My cousin was better and had been sent home, thank goodness he was ok.

Sunday Steve and I slept in extremely late, neither of us were still feeling 100% so we thought a day of pure rest would do us wonders. Late Sunday night our dog Wiley started yelping in pain, Steve decided he needed to be seen immediatly and rushed him to the overnight vet. They diagnosed it as a seizure and told us to see our regular vet in the morning. SO first thing Monday Steve took Wiley and dropped him off with Dr Mallard for the day. Almost right away they said they did not think it was a seizure and were going to do xrays and blood work to see what was going on. They called early afternoon to tell us Wiley had been diagnosed with Spondylosis and he also had two bone spurs on his spine. He will be taking a medicine twice daily to help with pain but it is a managable diagnosis. Along with medicine we will be changing his food to a senior food and he will be getting a big no fluffy bed to sleep on.

I am hoping for a much less eventful week and weekend coming up. The NFL draft starts Thursday evening and Steve is looking forward to that. Not to mention a certain someone will be turning 32 years old on April 28th!! I am not sure how he feels about turning 32 but it doesnt seem to be slowing him down!

Times they are a changing

We have almost made it through another week! I thought I would give an update of how our week has been. Steve has been having some issues with a pain in his stomach for the last few months and thanks to my sister her saw a new Dr two weeks ago who told him it was not a hernia but he thought Steve has just pulled a muscle in his stomach and prescribed some muscle relaxers to help. Tuesday of this week Steve had his follow up appt. with Dr. Bumberry and was told he was on the mend. Steve actually did some bag work last night and lifted a few weights and seems to be good today. Steve has been at Coke for over 7 years now but is looking into changing employers due to some reshifting of job duties has left him in an area of work he does not enjoy. He decided to study for and take his test for Hazmat/Tanker and Doubles and triples. Well he passed with flying colors, not that I was suprised, he is really very smart. Now he is getting finger printed for the Hazmat and Tanker endorcment. I will keep you all updated on his job prospects as all that starts to take place.

This weekend we will have a few more house guests. We will be watching Desola who is one of my daycare kids as well as my best friends two sons while their moms are out of town. Friday night our best couple friends Dustin and Angie are coming over to BBQ some hot dogs and enjoy our new fire pit with us. Saturday calls for lots of yard work and MMA fights on CBS in the evening. Sunday will be another fun day of working in the yard, Steve has big plans for our yard this summer and it will involve a lot of work on our parts!

I have nothing interesting to tell about my own life at the moment. Two of my daycare kids have been out all week so I have had a pretty easy work week. I am hoping to pick up a set of twin matresses this afternoon for the new bunk beds. I am still adjusting to them, they are much larger than I thought they would be! I only have 5 weeks of school left for the semester, I can say Thank the lord for that! I am ready for this semster to be over, it has been a long boring semester with no fun exciting classes.

Well everyone have a great weekend, have fun adn be safe in whatever you do. I can hear the little ones stirring from nap time so I am off to play outside after lunch!!

Spring has Sprung

Spring is here and so far Steve and I are staying very busy with yard work and a visit from the Boydens.
As some of you know Steve's brother Justin is in the Air Force and graduated from job training on March 29th. He is being stationed in Alamogordo, NM at Holloman Air Force Base. They arrived in Springfield on March 31st and stayed until April the 10th. Before Justin joined they had lived less than a mile from us and we had multiple visits a week, we were very excited to see them this time but also a little sad. Holloman is over 15 hours from Springfield, so it will be awhile before we see them again.
The kids have gotten so big since we saw them at Christmas, Braxton talks so well now and Novalee has grown a foot! Isabella is a spitting image for Justin. On Thursday April 1st Steve took the day off of work so that he and Justin could spend some time together. I had all of my daycare kids that day so we had an easter party, complete with craft projects, dying easter eggs, and egg shaped rice krispe treats.

Unfortunatly our visit couldnt last forever and Justin and Amy loaded up the truck and left on April the 10th. They did get to Holloman safely Sunday evening. They found out Monday they would be getting a house on base and were able to move in Tuesday.

Steve and I have alot of plans for working on our house this spring and summer. We worked in the yard Sunday afternoon and Monday evening cutting out bushes and cleaning the fence line. Steve suprised me with a trip to Lowes where we purchased a fire pit, I was very excited at the idea of nightly backyard fires. Tuesday evening Steve out the fire pit togther and had a fire ready when I got back home. Sadly we ran out of wood and were left in the dark! Steve decided he would go in and put our new bunk beds together before Justin and Patrick came to stay this weekend. I am still warming up to the idea of the bunkbeds but I know they will come in very handy as the daycare kids get bigger and out grow pack n plays. I am hoping to pick out a paint color this weekend and start that project next! We will see though, Steve and my dad are getting ready to frame and pour a patio in our backyard, we are also hoping to put a pool up this year and I am wanting to try my hand at garneding for the first time on my own. We will see how much of this we get accomplished but we have a good jump start so we might be in good shape.

This is the new building we put up this fall, our plans for the weekend are building a ramp on the front and a flower bed around both sides. Our yard has never had so many flowers as it will this summer!
